One of the best installments of one of the sagas of action consolidated Capcom, Devil May Cry 4

Devil May Cry 4 takes on new characters and fighting styles (clearly differentiated between them) the main attraction. The other is the challenge proposed to the classic player Hack and Slash, with endless levels of fiendish difficulty. Well finished visually and with a stable framerate, the game also maintains the good and bad of the original delivery. And that means obvious ups and downs (backtracking repeater locations, enemies and bosses) and some camera problems. Lovers of the challenges have game for months, but if not, the difference in styles of the characters, with Lady and totally disruptive to the head proposal gives some replayability to a very interesting title within the genre action full force seven years later.

As you know Dante and Nero were the playable characters who starred in the original game. For in this case this couple have joined three other players, all old acquaintances in the series such as Trish, Lady and Vergil.

Beginning with the women, it seems Capcom has decided to include Trish for its ease of use, ideal for novice users. This is a fairly balanced character with regard to their style as it is able to attack with guarantees both short distances or from more distant. And best of all, the implementation of most of their attacks and even combos is simpler than it is with other characters. Trish is well accompanied by the also beautiful Lady, forming a really explosive duo because both have been integrated into the same campaign main game, alternating control over and over during the course of the same.

Pros

  • The addition of new playable characters changes everything
  • Sumando todos, la lista de combos disponibles es casi incuantificable

Cons

  • Covering nearly the second half of the game with Dante and Trish wandering the same areas

An Action-adventure Game that provides Stylish and Awesome Combat System

By Sam James

On Wednesday, April 1, 2015

I am more on FPS gaming, but I have to say that Devil May Cry 4 is a fantastic action-adventure game that I have ever played on my computer. This game is also available on other gaming consoles like PS3 and Xbox 360. With this edition, I like its stylish combat system. It is very impressive and very appealing. Though, I find its graphics a bit outdated since it was issued years ago but honestly speaking, I still find it very good and attractive. Plus, it has sound effects that are very catchy. Moreover, I like the deep story of this game. It definitely provokes you to play this game until the end. However, the only problem that I encountered with this game is its controls, using a keyboard is quite difficult to move and maneuver. I suggest you get a gaming pad for better controls. Nonetheless, Devil May Cry 4 is a brilliant hack and slash-adventure game that gives stylish gaming experience.

Pros

  • It has a stylish combat system
  • Graphics is still very appealing

Cons

  • Requires a gaming pad for better controls

High-quality action and beautiful cutscenes are the highlights of this game

Though the level of difficulty in the earlier versions is extreme, that is not the case with this release. You have the option to choose the type of gameplay you want. It is still challenging but at least it will cater to your preference. The action scenes and the various boss fights will keep you playing until the very end. Also, the cutscenes are simply astonishing. They add depth and variety to the game. The secret missions are demanding. Although it is not necessary to accomplish all these missions, doing so will reap great rewards especially the orb fragment which you can use at your advantage later on. Also, it is exhilarating when you get to finish a mission. At the same time, you can use different weapons. The various puzzles are also fun to play but sometimes it takes its toll especially when it’s too long. Overall, Devil May Cry 4 is worth playing because of its stylish action, challenging missions and great gameplay.

Pros

  • Program has stunning graphics and cutscenes
  • Superb boss fights and great action

Cons

  • Installing the program takes time

Review

Devil May Cry 4 is an action-adventure, hack and slash game developed by Capcom. It’s the fourth title of Devil May Cry Saga and a sequel to the first two games. This time, the story follows Nero, a teenager with demonic powers who works for the “Order of the Sword”, a religion that worships the legendary Dark Knight Sparda. The leader of this order gives Nero the task of stopping Dante, the Son of Sparda.

In this title, you mainly play as Nero throughout most of the game, but don´t worry, Capcom didn’t forget about our favorite demon slayer, and you will be free to play as Dante in some stages. The gameplay continues the system of previous parts; the story is divided in different missions that you will have to complete the best way possible in order to get style points and the much needed red souls. To beat the missions successfully, Nero can perform lots of combos with his new and lethal arsenal: the Red Queen sword and the Blue Rose revolver. These two weapons will be your main tools for demon destruction.

Game modes

Once you download the game, you are free to play the main story in two modes: “Human” (Normal) and “Devil Hunter” (Hard). There are, in fact, four additional modes, and you will be able to unlock them by finishing the previous difficulty level. There is a slightly different game mode called “Heaven or Hell”, in which enemies and bosses can be killed in one single hit, but this is a double-edged sword, as you can get killed in one hit too.

If you manage to beat this mode, there is one final challenge. “Hell and Hell” is the hardest way to play the game, this is like “Heaven or Hell” without the upside; enemies can kill you in one hit, but they have regular life bars. There are more game modes, such as the “Bloody Palace” (horde/time attack mode) or super characters. These extra modes are included in the main game; you don’t need any further download.

One of the most important things to dominate in Devil May Cry 4 is the combat system. During the gameplay, enemies will become harder to kill and you will have to avoid their attacks while performing combos, not only to get rid of them, but to also earn Style points. With these points you will get “proud souls” at the end of each stage. Souls allow you to purchase new abilities to increase your move pool. If you like this kind of fight, you may be interested in the last installment of the Assassin's Creed saga, the Black Flag. Here you will also have to perform combos, even when the style is a bit more complex.

Devil May Cry 4 Features

The features of this game are listed below:

  • Frenetic gameplay: use your combos to destroy the demon horde before they destroy you.
  • Incredible sceneries: nothing can stop you; reach places you never imagined with your demonical skills.
  • Two playable characters: play as Nero or Dante in your quest for demon annihilation
  • Variety of game modes: four difficulties and extra modes such as Bloody palace will be a true challenge
  • New weapons and unique abilities: unleash the power of Nero’s Devil Bringer
  • Improved graphic engine with new effects
